RACE 2 JCW ELECTRICAL MAIDEN 1:12 PM (1705M) View Result
Winner, Winner …
Powerhouse owners Bob and Sandra Peters have unearthed another top quality three-year-old in the form of HEART STARTER ($2.60 – $2.20), who made amends for being beaten as a short-priced fancy at his first two starts this campaign with a demolition job in this 1705-metre maiden. The son of Domesday and half-brother to 2014 Perth Cup winner Real Love, relished stepping up to the mile and, after sitting second in running, blew his rivals away in the straight to record a 5-3/4 length victory.
HEART STARTER was trainer Grant Williams’ 10th winner of the Bunbury season and jockey William Pike’s 17th, with both men sitting on top of their respective BTC Premiership Tables.
How’d The Leg Up go?
Two from two for The Leg Up with another shortie saluting in the form of HEART STARTER, although he did open at $2.60 which we feel was quite a good quote considering his obvious ability and lack of depth in the opposition.
HEART STARTER: Super impressive win and another weapon for Peters Inc. to aim at the upcoming autumn three-year-old features. Could head next to a race like the listed $100,000 Lex Piper Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on Saturday 5 March, where we would expect him to be among the main fancies.
SIR VATICAN: Easily the best run outside the winner. Did a heap of heavy lifting in the middle stages and finished well clear of the third placegetter. Puit this three-year-old in your Blackbook.
SASSE DE BLISHK: Sent out a $5 second favourite but was never in contention, running on from 10th at the 600 metres to finish fourth. We’re going to give her a pass mark for this run after working home well enough in the straight.
HIGH SUCCESS: Disappointing run from the full brother to Group 1 performer Disposition.
MAYBE ONE MORE: Trainer advised will head for a spell after finishing 10th as a $7 third favourite.
