RACE 8 QBE INSURANCE HANDICAP 5:25 PM (2019M) View Result
Winner, Winner …
In comfortably the biggest upset result of Bunbury’s 2015/16 season the Matt Daqui-trained HOLLYWOOD ROCK ($51 to $91) jumped well from barrier 13, worked his way to the lead and never looked like losing. The five-year-old (a $74.70 outsider on WA tote) was rated to perfection by veteran jockey Mark Forder, when allowed to establish a big mid-race lead (3.3 lengths at the 600 metres) and cruising home to win by two lengths on the line. Despite appearing to be a tearaway leader, sectional times suggest Forder simply outfoxed his fellow riders, who paid HOLLYWOOD ROCK no respect and gave themselves too much work to do late in the race.
A veteran of only 18 starts, HOLLYWOOD ROCK showed promise early in his career but this win was his first since breaking maiden status in November 2014 and he had not been placed in his previous 11 outings. Hats off to anyone that was clever enough to have something on HOLLYWOOD ROCK and to anyone who shared in the whopping $221,023.60 Quaddie dividend.
