‘The Wizard’ William Pike waited till the last race on Amelia Park-Bunbury Stakes Day to claim the inaugural Best Of The West Jockey Challenge.
Heading into the final event on the program, Jarrad Noske’s had one hand on the trophy with his two wins and one third placing having him ahead of Chris Parnham (one win, two seconds) on countback. However, Pike lifted the heavily supported $2.10 favourite Strong Heart to a nose victory, giving him two wins and two third placings for the day, and joining Noske on 22 points, but getting the judge’s verdict in a countback.
