The Bunbury Turf Club Members No 1 Syndicate has a bit to look forward to in the coming weeks, with their star three-year-old Niccovi embarking on a Melbourne Spring Carnival campaign.
The Simon A. Miller-trained filly flew into Melbourne on Wednesday morning and is being aimed at the Group 3 $500,000 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Wednesday 16 October.
Niccovi, who was considered one of WA’s best two-year-olds last season, made her new-season return at Belmont last Saturday, finishing a fighting second behind the well-regarded Red Can Man.
If she performs up to expectations Wednesday week, Niccovi may stay on for a series of suitable races at some of the biggest racedays of the year.
