Super-exciting day for WA racing fans tomorrow as we get to see just how good rising star Miss Sondrio is when facing her toughest test yet in the $30,000 South West Summer Sizzle (Race 7-1208m).

A victory in the Summer Sizzle — the feature event on Bunbury’s annual Australia Day card — would be a remarkable fifth straight triumph for the Bruce Watkins-trained four-year-old and would confirm her status as arguably the most progressive horse currently racing in the State.

Miss Sondrio made it four on the trot when carrying 58.5kg to comfortably account for Fancy Fox over 1200 metres at Pinjarra Park on last start, with that galloper franking the form by saluting the judge at that particular circuit this afternoon.

The daughter of Alfred Nobel is unbeaten in three starts at her home track Bunbury, displaying her sharp turn of foot to win on November 30, December 18 and January 1, with Jason Whiting on board on each occasion.

Miss Sondrio drops 4kg stepping up into tomorrow’s 66-plus rated handicap and looks well suited only a half-kilo off the limit weight, however, she will face strong opposition from another talented local four-year-old in Just Act Natural.

The Paul Roberts-trained front-runner has performed well when leading at Ascot at each of his two starts this preparation, and was only overhauled in the final strides when runner-up over 1100 metres at Ascot on New Year’s Eve.

On that occasion, Just Act Natural beat home Three Votes (3rd), Shady Grey (4th) and Agachar Cruz (7th), and all three have gone on to win at Ascot in the past 11 days, meaning the multiple city-winning son of Natural Blitz is in top form and will certainly provide some formidable opposition for Miss Sondrio tomorrow.
