After a smart trial win at Belmont yesterday, undefeated youngster Black Sabbath will be nominated for the $100,000 TABtouch 3YO Classic (1000m) at the Bunbury Turf Club’s season opening stand-alone metropolitan meeting on Saturday October 13.
The Robert and Todd Harvey-trained son of Blackfriars created a major impression with dominant Ascot victories on May 5 and May 19 last season, and looked in mint condition when comfortably winning Heat 11 (1000m) yesterday morning with regular rider Shaun McGruddy in the saddle.
“We’re obviously really pleased with his trial,” co-trainer Todd Harvey told Thoroheads.
“The plan is to nominate for the TABtouch Classic on opening day at Bunbury and, providing he doesn’t draw off the course, we’ll be starting first up there, before going down the traditional Belgravia Stakes, Fairetha Stakes and WA Guineas path.”
